Resigning

Dear board members,
I am resigning from the board. For the past year this board has undergone some changes in ideas (theologicaly mainly)and general attitudes. I find myself no longer able to find profitable fellowship here as a Baptist. I love you all and thank you for the fun and fellowship we have had in the past.

Your in Christ,
Christopher R. Fales

Christopher,

I fully understand and unfortunately I will be joining you. This kind of stinks because it was the only forum that was free of the free for all heresy like other boards.

I have nothing personal against anyone here in particular. Just some attitude that rubbed me wrong when the discussion about prayer and children came up. Some posters always seem to have an undertone that pokes at us baptists as if not just a discussion will come up. Bit more like a debate win which one already has their answers lined up just to hear themsleves speak , not willing to hear the other side. Just to respond with an intent of the heart to prove oneself is already right in their own eyes. Probably not true but its the feeling I get. I have been perhaps gulity as well. Better reason for me to move on.

God bless you all in Jesus name.

Roger Ludwig

Roger & Christopher,

I don't know if you will even be around to read this. And if you feel that leaving the board will be better for your sanctification I do not wish to discourage you. But you will be missed. The board will not be such a good place after you are gone.

Christopher and Roger,
I hate to see you guys leave the board. I respect your decision, hoping though that you may reconsider. As no church is perfect, so no board is either. Having expressed your concerns and made us aware of them, perhaps that and your future posts may be the catalyst needed to make positive changes.
Blessings,
Bob

Christopher & Roger,

It's sad to see you guys go. I think both of you brought a great spirit to the board, and I'll miss that, but I also respect your decision. I hope in my brief time I haven't contributed to an unwelcoming attitude to our Baptist bros.

You will both be missed. I trust that the change in attitude comes from a minority on this board. In fact, it seems to have died down with the fact some have either left or simply stopped posting regularly.

I find much agreement with Baptists and I seem to be a sore spot for Paedobaptist! It is sad to see those I enjoy fellowship with leave.

I know how to handle this:

(Christopher)

(Roger)

I hope your absence will only be a vacation.

The reason this thread exists is because people have a hard time reading:

[quote:9578aa9ce3]"Covenant Theology Forum: Think through Covenant Theology, and debate Credo and Paedo Baptism. [b:9578aa9ce3]This forum is for those who desire to DEBATE and DISCUSS. All others please refrain from this board room."[/b:9578aa9ce3][/quote:9578aa9ce3]

If they would have READ THE FORUM RULES before going into the forum, they would still be here.

Some people are just too thin skinned to think through and debate. That is why the rules for that forum remain in the top of the list, and the description of that forum SPECIFICALLY tells people to STAY OUT OF IT if they have a hard time debating. Debating is not for everyone.

Calvin called Pighius a dog. Luther Called Erasmus some really nasty names in their debates, including excrement. I did not see anything in the thread on "praying children" that should have caused people to "resign" if they are interested in thrashing out their theology.

On another note, I do not think the debate was dealing with improper themes. It think all the questions everyone raised were good.

Listen: I get lots of email from lots of people. Catholic Pagans, Catholic Apologists, Arminians, etc. they never bother to listen to my email page that asks them to do some reading before they email me. Instead they shoot off the "I hate your website and its wrong". Now if I got ticked off every time someone like that sent me an email, or harshly wanted to debate, I would have closed up shop a long time ago. Not everyone is as sanctified as another, and sometime, yes, even from lost pagans, they ask some good questions. We have to learn how to interact with people. If one cannot handle an overly zealous post against their theological system, why in the world would you WANT to be on this board? The purpose of the board is to hash things out.

If hashing theology out and edification is not something you want to do, then I would suggest not only giving up attending this board, but giving up on the Christian life as well. Christ has called us to be workmen who know their theology.

2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

This has immediate implications for ministers, and further implication for anyone handling the Word.

If there is a theological view you disagree with, then do the proper study, and work it out. Don't be lazy. Resigning is akin to theological laziness and avoidance.

If at this time in your sanctification you cannot handle that, that is OK as well. Simply don't get involved with those threads and think through those issues on your own.

But please, this whole "I'm resigning thing" is really rather ridiculous. Without iron sharpening iron (and that creates sparks) then sanctification is not going to happen in your hermit-like Christian bubble. If you cannot handle debating with a brother, then the intellectual pagan on the street is going to eat you alive - unless you avoid them too.

This is the theme Scripture for this board:

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

Do you know how to answer each one?

[This will be emailed to the "resignies" as well.]
