A text that has helped guide our leaders regarding the raising of special funds for special projects, particularly buildings, is 1 Chronicles 29. I commend it to you for consideration.
In raising funds for the building of the temple, David makes the need known, he leads by example in giving, the leaders give generously, the people follow suit.
We've never been in favor of hiring a fundraising group or even copying the style of one. Making the need known, showing why it's necessary, and having the leaders set the pace has been a way God has shown his provision for us. I'm not saying it's the only way or that other ways are wrong. I'm just relaying our experience.
