O, and by the way...Happy 500 John Calvin

I dont know what came over me, perhaps its gas, but it seemed appropriate after all the hoopla to start a thread of this nature.

So the day is here, happy 500th my Calvinistic friends.

It is here Martin. How could you possibly have missed that? Has there been talk anywhere of anything other than the anniversary?

Oh, yes. My fiance mentioned recently that this was coming up. If it were still the early bible times, he'd probably still be alive!

Happy Birthday, John Calvin and to heart Calvinists everywhere!!

Concerning THE LORD'S PRAYER, Calvin wrote:

"We ask then, that God's majesty might be hallowed because of its qualities. This is not, of course, because his majesty is capable of any increase or decrease. But all must revere it as holy; it must be acknolwedged and extolled.

"Whatever God does, his actions must be considered glorious, as they truly are. So then, if God punishes, he must be considered just; if he forgives, he must be considered merciful; if he fulfills his promises, he must be considered truthful.

"And seeing that his glory is, as it were, engraved in everything, and that it shines there, his praises must resound in every mind and on every tongue." Truth for All Time, Banner of Truth Trust, 2008, pp.97-98

Amen!

In honor of this day, I think I'll go find a papist and remind him that the Reformation succeeded.

I decided to celebrate this day by mowing the lawn early in the morning. Yep, that's right. I was mowing the lawn before 7:30 am, before breakfast. Protestant work ethic

I truly thank God for raising up John Calvin (as well as all the other Reformers!) and used them to recover the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the midst of gross spiritual darkness. Praise God for the Protestant Reformation and His servant John Calvin!
Post Tenebras Lux!!

I'll lift a glass in his honor later today!

Remember that after Calvin died he stayed in the grave. Christ died and rose again and lives to reign.

I believe Calvin is one of the greatest theologins of Christianity. Calvin passionately sought for the restoration of the Church Catholic of the Apostles and the Fathers, I wish more Presbyterians laid hold of this. That Presbyterianism is the restoration of and old religion not the innovation of a new religion. Our greatest fault is that we are not connected with the ancient faith as he was.

I am today a Reformed Protestant who left the Roman church and became a Presbyterian because I believe the Reformed Protestant faith and Presbyterianism is the restoration of the ancient faith of the true Christian church founded by Jesus Christ and his apostles. I renounced like John Calvin the papist Roman teachings which continue to be apostasy and corrupt the Gospel and the truth of the scriptures. I am a staunch Protestant, Presbyterian and a Calvinist because I believe Presbyterianism is the restoration of and old religion not the innovation of a new religion as Roman Catholicism teaches. We Reformed Presbyterian Protestants I also believe are the heirs of the ancient and true faith. I renounce the pope and Roman Catholicism as did John Calvin and all the reformers. I wish more Protestants would understand and accept this fact. I have found that more ex Roman Catholics like myself who have become Reformed Protestants do understand that fact better than many cradle Protestants.

In grace,
Dudley
