This is for some balance, because while some great theologians have changed their minds, what's really important is how many minds have changed their great theologians? Oh the detriment of changing from a Calvin to a . . . ugh . . . Finney.![]()

How absurd a tenet is this, which holdeth that there is some particular worship of God allowed, and not commanded? What new light is this which maketh all our divines to have been in the mist, who have acknowledged no worship of God, but that which God hath commanded? Who ever heard of commanded and allowed worship? - George Gillespie
Can you clarify?
How many folks here on the PB changed from reading Wesley to reading Whitefield for instance? Wow, I hope everyone responds to that one!

What's to clarify? I just wanted to be cantankerous and contrary and ornery.

I started out liking Warfield, but switched over to liking Berkhoff better... that's one mind that changed their theologian.

Well I went from Augustine to Calvin, but it was not that great a leap, no?

I used to read the "best sellers", now I check their background and what other R brothers say about them before getting a $9.99 special.

My great theologians have gotten a lot older. I started off with people like Piper (still like them) but I've moved to like a lot of dead ones, like Calvin, Edwards, Owen, et al.

Yes, someone said, 'In theologians, the deader the better!.'
I love reading the puritans, along with Lloyd-Jones, J.C. Ryle, Machen, and a very few others.

Your will, Lord Jesus Christ! Nothing more... nothing less... nothing else.
I started reading apologist like William Lane Craig and Behe and then Switched to Schaeffer and Van Til.
I was really impressed with Schaeffer that's one of the reasons why I becamed reformed. Not just his great apologetic but his loving heart for serving people.

“No…we are all priests. Your vocation and your contentment in your vocation should not be dependent upon your being in vocational ministry or in being a figure of public acclaim. If God wills that fine…if He does not do that, you ought to still do what he has granted you to do to the glory of God.”
