At first I thought it was going to be an article about a man who was holding his church responsible for his backsliding.

Aren't churches judgment proof under charitable immunity, or is charitable immunity disposed of? I forgot.

No recent law in Tennessee to say the immunity still exists, and historically, here, it only applied to the trust propery of the charity, and not non-trust property.

Looks like the people in the "catching ministry" weren't doing their job!

This got me thinking about spiritual falls and I found this video that reminded me of some spiritual falls that I used to take on summer retreats at Windy Gap, NC on the BLOB! Of course, it had the added benefit of spiritual falls being combined with launching to new spiritual heights!

About 15 years ago I had a slip and fall case involving a Catholic church in Montana. The rule then was that there was immunity for acts occuring during a church-type function (as in worship), but not for more worldly types of activities (like spaghetti dinners or being injured at a bookstore, etc.). But such a rule has been modified a lot depending on jurisdiction.
I'm not going into 1 Corinth. 6 because I believe that only applies to Christians. . . .

How sad..I pray he loses this case.
However, with the temperature of this country today towards God and Christianity he will probably win. (even though we may disagree with their teachings, many people do 'look' at them and think Christian).
LOL--reminds me of my daughter and a friend of hers the other day, they had been falling backwards and the other catching them, well, her friend wasn't paying attention and my daughter fall flat on her behind..I just stood there and laughed because it was FUNNY!!

I don't recall any of the apostles head-smacking people onto the floor... I wonder where they get this tradition

I was in the Charismatic movement for a time, and saw this. They typically warned the folks that it better be the Lord making them fall or else they would get hurt. |

If they had people sign little waivers with that on it--it might be enough for an assumption of risk defense. Sort of an inherently dangerous activity like skydiving.
