| | | Lesbian DVD at Target
Yesterday, on the way home from a trip we went about 30 minutes out of our way to go to Target (we live in the country and don't have too many stores close by). As we were going down the back main aisle of the store I noticed DVD's being displayed with the title "The L Word". The cover had a group of women (7 or 8) kissing & licking each other and though they were photographed from the neck up it was very apparent they were naked. I was of coursed appalled that they were being displayed, but even moreso at my child's eye level and facing the main aisle of the store. When I brought it to the attention of an employee she got an assistant manager who told me all she could do was send an email up the ladder with my complaint. She said all the store would do is maybe move it to another area. I then went to customer service and asked to see the store manager but after waiting 20 minutes was told he was on a phone call and there was nothing more that could be done. Of course we returned all the items in our cart. Today I called the corporate number with my complaint but was told they would be sure to notify the management but couldn't guarantee a return phone call to me saying they would remove the movie. Since we don't live close to the store I can't return to see if the movie has been removed. Just want to get the word out about this. I don't know if this is being sold in all Targets or just the liberal Northeast, but if you shop there be warned or better yet call and complain as I did!

God bless you for not simply rolling your eyes or mumbling a complaint to yourself.
That is likely what I would have done Thanks for the conviction. I needed that.

Unfortunately, "The L Word" is a very popular television program. I think it's on Showtime or HBO.

The thing that infuriates me is that if you were some godless wretch protesting a "Merry Christmas" sign, you'd have received almost immediate results.

I have a friend who, when she walks through a store with her kids and sees something like this (mostly trashy tabloid magazines), will simply pick it up and move it. She'll turn the cover over so only the back shows, or hide the offending item on a top shelf out of kids' eyesight. No one's ever tried to stop her. She figures if the store has to reset its display often enough, someone might get the message.

That L word disc lets you know where it is going up front. There were probably dozens of discs there that have some perverted stuff or just plain explicit sexuality nestled into what would be an interesting story. It is Hollywood, it is the fallen world on display via media. We even have had a few discs "fall behind the rack" at our local library that we didn't think children should be exposed to. There is an animated show called Team America that is just plain nasty....and it is packaged to attract children.

Oh the fallenness of mankind!
Praise God for saving us, for without His grace, we would still be filling our lives with idols as the rest of the world.

I noticed while we were watching Nikelodeon the other night there was a commercial on that was promoting a teen show and the word lesbian kept popping up and it was mentioned as something "hot" by the teen boy. We turned the television off. We won't be watching Nickelodeon anymore. My kids didn't get it thankfully. We used it as an opportunity to talk to them about the ungodly and how they promote evil as good. It drives me crazy to see these things happening, but I am not surprised.
