We were paying $1.40 two weeks ago, so we are frustrated that it jumped so much in a short time, but it is due to the British Petrolium/AMOCO refinery that had a big fire late last month. It is the largest refinery on the Texas gulf coast, and the third largest refinery in the US, so they investigated for terrorism, but it was just an accident. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/040331/325/epxmv.html

$1.69 in Longview, TX.
I have lived in Seattle and the Northwest before, though. It is killer expensive up there. Canada is expensive as well.
