| | | Help with Dan Kimball???
I have been asked to offer some critique of Dan Kimball, the conservative face of the emergent church movement. Other than his not being confessional (or even Calvinist???), what do you all know about him? Other than his wild hair, tendency to support orthodox teaching, Multnomah and Western Seminary credentials, and somewhat negative mention in a recent White Horse Inn program, my knowledge is pretty thin.
HELP me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

I attended a Dan Kimball lecture once. He is light and day more orthodox than almost any of his fellow emergent compatriots. He has a saying that he uses all the time (which I forget exactly) but it goes along the lines of "Read your Bible stupid". He is horrified at the lack of reading of the Bible that happens in our churches today. Basically, what seems to make him emergent is how he does the worship service, not his actual Christian beliefs. But this was about four/five years ago and I have never heard or read anything about him since.

I've read some interviews with him in the past, and wasn't very impressed, of course I wasn't very impressed with my two years at Western either. You could get terminal degrees at both Western and Multnomah, and still be a lightweight (or even an idiot), imo. In fact, I was listening to a conversation by some current students in Western's library today, and thought to myself . . . never mind, I'm just taking an opportunity to vent about two years of a thoroughly wasted seminary education
