Grinding my teeth - ?

I grind my teeth at night. I seem to have a handle on it during the day but I can't control it when I sleep (obviously).

The dentist recommends a night guard which will cost me $500 (ouch!). Does anyone else have this problem and have you found an inexpensive alternative?

I used a sports mouth guard for awhile but it doesn't stay fixed to the roof of my mouth. Sometimes I would wake up thinking I had swallowed it... but that is a whole other story.

I used to do it, and found that reducing (or even stopping) my caffeine consumption helped a lot.

Try using some "dental adhesive" with the mouth guard. It sounds silly, but it works.

I used to grind my teeth when i was 5...only thing that cured it was sleeping in my parents room on the floor. Hope that helps

My son grinds his teeth at night. My wife bought him a teeth guard (not sure what its called) to wear at night. She got it I think at either Walgreen's or Walmart, and I'm sure it wasn't real expensive. You boil the teeth guard for a minute or so, then you put in your mouth and bite down while the clay or whatever is still soft. It hardens to fit your teeth. This may be it, for only $29.99.
