Has anyone used the Pimsleur language sets? What are your thoughts?

I used it to try to learn French. I don't know what it was, but it wasn't that great for me. I think I need more than just audio. I'm really eager to try Rosetta Stone.

I worked through Spanish 1, 2 and 3. It's all conversational - listen and repeat. It's great for working on accent and sounding more like a native. It gives you no grammar and you still need someone to speak with if you actually want to retain what you learn.
It's great while your driving. It's expensive and probably not worth the cost.

Seeing what I'm saying, the way it's spelled, helps me to say and remember it. Thanks for your input.

I think it has optional workbooks, if I recall correctly. I remember a brief teaser that I used and still remember the sentence very clearly (in my own romanization): "Ani lo meveen Heevreet."

****
I found that Italian I was available for monthly checkout in my university's Media Resources Lab. So far I've done half of the first lesson.
Lei capisce l'italiano?
No, signore. Io non capisco l'italiano. Io capisco l'inglesi.

Hebrew - as I recall, it means "I do not understand Hebrew."
Ani - I
Lo - not
Meveen - understand (maybe it was speak???)
Hevreet - Hebrew
It wasn't for me at all, but that sentence stuck in my head and five years later I can still rattle it off.
