Talking Christian Music in the reformed sense (?)

Trust me... i struggled a bit with this thread title.

The purpose of this thread is to ask where i could find some good Godly music available for free download.

Please note i am not referring to Christian contemporary music. I am looking for perhaps the singing of psalms or old hymns or sometimes even instrumentals (of older hymns)

What i am not looking for is those "Jesus take the wheel" type songs and the like.

I would be very grateful for any suggestions and or insight!

I THINK Crown & Covenant has some sung Psalms you can listen to for free (or sample), sorry this is not too helpful but it has been a while. Grace and Peace in Our Lord's Name.

JD already listed him, but I'll say it again: Derek Webb. He is my all time favorite, and I don't even like a whole lot of contemporary stuff at all.

You can get "Free Psalm of the Month" here: Free Psalm of the month MP3, Psalms to download

As for downloadable Psalms, available for purchase, go here: Crown and Covenant Publications- Psalms, Psalters, and Psalm-Singing.

At one time, they offered Charles McBurney & Choir on the Album Sing a New Song, that several Psalms from The Book of Psalm for Singing, available for download. Those are beautiful. However, those are no longer available, except for CD.

On Bob Kauflin's website (worshipmatters.com) he will occasionally link to a free single download at Sovereign Grace Music. You might want to try napster online as they allow you to search and play songs for free.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that Derek Webb supports the copying and sharing of his music from person to person.

But I think his more recent albums are not as good as She Must And Shall Go Free.

Thanks for the tip Josh. I like the two they have up there. I might have look about and grab something. Ideal tunes to unwind to after a long day

(side note: i am going over these links in no particular order!)

Much agreed. Although, I still appreciate his lyrical content (for the most part), it seems that, musically, he's trying to redefine himself with each new album. Of course, that's certainly his prerogative.

I highly recommend Nathan Clark George. He is a PCA member and son of a PCA pastor.

Here's his music download site.

A very good musician he was from our Presbytery, and so has played in our church and the presbyteries summer camp.
