The Regulative Principle: Samuel Miller gives a succinct statement of this principle when he writes that since the Scriptures are the “only infallible rule of faith and practice, no rite or ceremony ought to have a place in the public worship of God, which is not warranted in Scripture, either by direct precept or example, or by good and sufficient inference.”

Welcome to the board. Three of my Great Grandparents use to live in Bradenton Florida. My Great Grandma and Grandpa Frost and my Great Grandma Jackson (Johnson). And my Great Aunt Olga use to live there also. I came down with the German Measles in Bradenton when I was 12 years old. They gave me a spinal tap thinking I had spinal meningitis. I was a sick puppy. I use to chase the little lizards that ran all over the place. And it amazed me how the rain could fall on one side of the street and not the other. What a strange place for Hoosiers to settle in their latter years. I loved the place.

^^^Avatar Contemplation^^^

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Hopefully I won't put my foot in my mouth nor accidentally offend too often.

I'm a 20 year veteran I.T. Administrator and this is one of the few boards I've found that I actually wanted to be a part of (John 13:35). There's so much nastiness out there.

Sorry to hear of your adolescent trauma Martin, those spinal taps can be nasty business. I'm guessing you met the wonderful people at Manatee Memorial Hospital back then.

I've been in Bradenton about 13 years. I really enjoy it here (although it's getting a little expensive) you couldn't ask for better weather (except for the occasional tropical storm) , beautiful surroundings, and the sunsets at the beach are breathtaking. There are still those little lizards (and alligators, and snakes) EVERYWHERE! My Westie spends most of his waking moments trying to catch them.

The culture here can get little strange sometimes though, it's like a smaller version of the "Great American Melting Pot". People from all over the country, and the world, are always passing through on vacation (Disney's only 2 hours away) or settling down here. It's been really hard to find a doctrinally sound church in the area, but that's probably true everywhere.

Micah 4:4 (You're all invited to visit someday)
