| | | "Salvete" from South Carolina
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is encouraging to see an active online community dedicated to Biblical orthodoxy and what has come to be known as the "Reformed Faith."
My name is Joel. I reside in Columbia, South Carolina, and attend Christ Church of the Carolinas (link here). The church is not a member of any denomination, but one of our pastors ministered in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP) for a number of years.
The Lord converted me while I was living in Thailand, where my parents labored as missionaries.
Of lesser importance, I am an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina.
In this particular season, I would say that Titus 2:11-14 are my life verses:
"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
I look forward to getting know members of this community of believers and benefiting from the resources available here.
Salvete!

Welcome, Joel! I am originally from Columbia and my family still lives there. I think your pastor went to the same college as my husband. I remember him but he would not remember us. I am extremely thankful the Lord brought us all to the place we are today spiritually.

My parents were originally with the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention. However, they left because of some disagreements which I do not wish to elaborate on.
They have since founded a new organization with a largely indigenous staff.

What missions organization did your parents work at in Thailand and where? My former youth pastor (worked there before and then went back) is a missionary in Thailand. I doubt it's the same though since they've only been there in recent years.

Welcome, Joel! I know most of the members of your sister church in Anderson - Christ Reformed Church of the Carolinas. They are a great group of people. I trust the Columbia group ranks right up there with them!

Hey, do you ever make trips to Sinclair Ferguson's church to hear him preach? I did it once, and was extremely blessed.
