| | | introduction from mark hello everyone. i live in grand haven michigan with my wife Monica and two girls Brynne L'abri, and Nylah Renee. We are planning to move to North Carolina so my wife can go through pharmacy school (distance pathway through Creighton in Omaha Neb., so the studies are done at home).
I'll be teaching at a classical Christian academy: theology, rhetoric, literature and writing.
I have an MDiv from Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake IN., and my journey to the reformed confession of the faith has been a great joy! I grew up in the Lutheran church here in Grand Haven, but never really knew Christ, apart from assent to doctrine.
I lived a pretty wild life--standard fair for most American boys out on their own at a state college. At 22, I repented and "laid claim to the promises of the covenant," aka got saved. I finished a B.A. in Literature in Kalamazoo and went off to seminary thereafter.
Lately, I have been trying to discover my vocational calling. since graduating seminary, I have worked in a factory, at a homeless shelter, and lastly at a subprime lender. I just got fired! I'm happy about it actually.
Love you all,
mark

Question: How do you know which eye of John Murray's was the glass eye?
Answer: It was the one with the most compassion.

| | | forgot to say, my favorite reads are: Murray, Bavinck, and Reymond's new systematic. and I like Doug Wilson's books on classical education (don't freak out on me--his stuff on education is very good). I love Bahnsen, Van Til and Schaeffer and most apologetics, in general.
In general, I love to read the Bible and do any kind of research related to it. I also endeavor to grow closer to Christ in loving him and loving others, and trying to be humble and charitable--the primary christian virtue! (Edwards). |

It always begins by skulking, and assuming a disguise. Its advocates, when together, boast of great improvements, and congratulate one another on having gone greatly beyond the ‘old dead orthodoxy,’ and on having left behind many of its antiquated errors: but when taxed with deviations from the received faith, they complain of the unreasonableness of their accusers, as they ‘differ from it only in words.’ This has been the standing course of errorists ever since the apostolic age. Samuel Miller, Introductory essay, The Articles of the Synod of Dort (1841).
