| | | Hello from Quito, Ecuador
Hello Everyone,
I am Pablo Landazuri from Quito, Ecuador. Married to Verenisse and father of Martin, Emilio and Benjamin. I am a member of a small Reformed Independent congregation in the same city. I was born again 4 years ago and since then I have been studying by my self almost all that I can related to Reformed faith. Right now I am laso taking Greek thru the virtual program in PRTS. Unfortunately there is not much material available in the coutry so internet becomes escencial. I found the Puritan Board some time back and I think it is a great place to learn about Biblical Theology. I feel I have been Called by God to be Pastor and I dream about having a Refomed Seminary here. I have been accepted by a couple of Reformed Seminaries in US but getting the visas to travel has been a problem mainly becasue of financial reasons. Anyway, thank God for saving us and for having this site. It is a true blessing to find material specially for us where Reformed stuff is not easily available. Blessings in Christ.

Greetings, Pablo! I am encouraged by your story. I visited Ecuador several years ago on a missions trip to Secua and stayed two nights in Quito. I was newly Reformed at the time but was still with my old Pentecostal church. While in Secua I discovered that my Pentecostal missionary translator did not know the Spanish words for "sin", "righteousness", and "atonement." This concerned me.
I'm happy to see that you are pursuing a solid Biblical education. South America needs faithful gospel preachers and a solid reformed seminaries to train them. May God bless your efforts to further his kingdom!

Hey Jonathan,
That´s nice. Actually I lived in Kentucky for 1 year in 1994-1995. I was an exchange student in Georgetown. I went to Scott Co. H.S. I was a decent soccer player so I travel all over playing it. At that time I was not a Christian, I mean I had grown up Roman Catholic but as it normally happens there I had no real relationship with the Lord and Bible was not parto of my education. Anyway, so you were in Quito, nice. Being honest I was not sure were Secua is. I had to google it. I see it is in the Jungle close to where the Shuar tribe lives. You know, it is very uncomon for people from the ecuadorian cities to go there. I guess you have to be here to understand our diversity and culture. Unfortuantely, most of our "Evangelical" Churches are either Arminian and many Pentecostal. Prosperity Theology is all over and there are very few exceptions. Regarding Reformed Churches there is one presbytery that was formed by a PCA mission I have heard. Anyway they have Ithink no more than 5 o 6 congregations. Then there are 2 or 3 Independent Reformed Congregations that I know of. So, as you can see there is a lot to do around here brother. Blessings.

Seriously, am I the only one that knows "bienvenido" should be singular when you're addressing one person? Just messing with ya'll! -----Added 9/25/2009 at 10:31:31 EST----- Look at that, Herald got it right too. Props to him.
