Hi. Id like to introduce myself, perhaps with a very edited testimony.
1. Raised agnostic (1980-1998.)
2. New Age darkness (1998-2000.)
3. Possibly born again through reading the book of Matthew. (I say possibly because I am a believer in "the puritan doctrine of seeking" - ie it may have just been the beginning of a phenomenally powerful preparatory work.)
4. Went through Bunyanesque / Cowperesque turmoil as I realised some of the power of total depravity / inability, self-deception and stupidity. Hence not so sure about genuine regeneration in stage 3 but cant rule it out.
5. Almost through stage 4 now (in faith) and onto stage 5 - living through prolonged periods of walking with the light of God's countenance. Now I must help others in stages 3 and 4.
(PS stage 4 involved much fellowship with emergent church, which broke me to see the vast hypocritical chasm between the Westminster confession and my life. Simply realised that the problem wasnt with the Westminster confession. This is why we must be very careful when we speak of the emergent church - though is it shot through with apostasy, there are many confused, regenerate people there that are easily destroyed by arrogant orthodoxy. They are smoking flaxes that need to be taught wisely, not shot.)
Married to Laura, who completes me intellectually by not being intellectual. In other words, a day spent reading theology is sometimes nothing compared to her childlike simplicity.....but contrary to emergent false humility, she also needs me to complete her intuitive understanding with some real structure.
Hope to join some discussion or other soon

Welcome Chris, from one Englander to another. Interesting to see a NFI church member here!
By the way, you say you do not know of any church within 200 miles that teaches reformed truth? I know of at least one in Southampton. No, two. And that's just for starters. If you are happy in NFI all well and good, but there are non charismatic and even paedobaptist places you could go if you so desired. Of course, one thing you might love (and I admire) about NFI is their zeal. Too little of that about.
