| | Greetings! Hello,
My name is Mike Shingler and I am new both to this discussion board and to discussion boards in general. I'm still sort of "feeling my way around" the sight. I am a pastor in an independent Baptist church and would identify myself as a "reforming" Baptist. I've been through a long (and sometimes painful) process of developing and altering my understanding of Scripture and theology. So, in many ways, being "reformed" is a new thing for me. In fact, as I have my former presuppositions challenged and realigned, I sometimes feel like my world is crumbling around me. I have often desired personal interaction and challenge from peers who are basically "like-minded." That is what drew me to this board. I hope to be used in sharpening and encouraging others with the insights I've gleaned, and I hope you all will challenge me and help me to a thoroughly equipped servant of God who "rightly divides the Word of Truth."

It always begins by skulking, and assuming a disguise. Its advocates, when together, boast of great improvements, and congratulate one another on having gone greatly beyond the ‘old dead orthodoxy,’ and on having left behind many of its antiquated errors: but when taxed with deviations from the received faith, they complain of the unreasonableness of their accusers, as they ‘differ from it only in words.’ This has been the standing course of errorists ever since the apostolic age.
