| | | October 12
October 12 was a notable day in church history.
Both Matthew Poole and William Gurnall died on the same day: October 12, 1679.
My ancestor, Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder, died on October 12, 1542.
French Huguenot Admiral Jean Ribault died on October 12, 1565. Robert E. Lee died on October 12, 1870.
It is also the date upon which Christopher Columbus discovered the New World (1492) and the first Oktoberfest was held (1810).
