| | | Andrew Fuller and the will of a sinner
I just read the next part of Andrew Fuller
.....Though Mr. T talks of men as having no will or power to believe in Christ, nor any concern in the matter "prior to the Spirit's work (XII 23.) yet that is not what i have never affirmed. On the contrary, i maintain that men have the same power, strictly speaking, before they are wrought upon by the Holy Spirit, as after; and before conversion as after, that the work of the Spirit endows us with no new rational powers that are necesary to moral agency..." (Works II, pp. 546-547)
I know that Huntington, Philpot, Rushton and others were hardly disgaree with Fuller teachings.
What do you think concerning Fuller is he in error or not, i read that he was very much inspired by Jonathan Edwards.

I am no expert on Fuller, and I suspect he is weak in a number of areas. But he may be making a distinction between capacity and ability somewhat like Pink does below:
"When we speak of the sinners inability, we do not mean that if he desired to come to Christ he lacks the necessary power (or capacity) to do so. No; the fact is that the sinner's inability or absence of power is itself due to a lack of willingness to come to Christ, and this lack of willingness is the fruit of a depraved heart." (A. W. Pink, The Sovereignty of God, Baker, p. 187)
