| | | 1 Cor. 14:26 and Exclusive Psalmody
Wondering how 1 Cor. 14:26 impacts Exclusive Psalmody and the Regulative Principle of Worship. The idea of "each bringing a hymn..." seemingly redefines the RPW and allows inclusive hymnody.
thoughts?

I had the same question last night after reading this verse in the ESV.
Thanks for bringing it up!

I don't know the whole deal with the "exclusive psalmody" debate, but I think that the verse is simply Paul's observation (not prescription) of what goes on in the Corinthian church. But perhaps what I say is actually irrelevant!

Moved to the Exclusive Psalmody forum and closed. We have a moratorium on the issue for the time being.

1 Cor. 14 refers to an individual exercising a spiritual gift and communicating to the congregation, with the stipulation that others judge what is revealed; it does not refer to the congregation singing a set form of words written by an uninspired man.
