Why is paedocommunion wrong?

Could someone please explain to me from Scripture why paedocommunion is wrong?

If it's just very plainly in the scripture text, then you can just post the text. Thanks.

Megan, infants are not capable of examining themselves so as not to partake of the Lord's Supper in an unworthy manner (1 Cor. 11). There is another reason, but this is the one Baptists and Presbies would agree with.

Ok, seems pretty clear that it's wrong. How do paedocommunionists [?] deal with that passage then? In fact, where do they attempt to get their biblical support?

Many p-c read that passage as though the "body" to be discerned was "the church" instead of the representational "body" of Christ. They say that a child can see that this meal belongs to "us" (since they too are being encouraged to see themselves as part of that body). They reduce the scope of discernment to an "age-appropriate" level.

I think this is quite erroneous. The body to be discerned is Christ's, that is his body broken for us, not the unbroken church. The point of the Supper is that it is for mature believers, not for a healthy child who acts his age. Maturity can be manifested at different ages, and a 10 yr old can show maturity when a 15 yr old may not. But the point is to attain to a mature understanding, not to say that the 5 yr old's understanding is "adequate for his stage of maturity."
