WCF LBCF Chapter One: The Holy Scriptures
I've just started reading through the WCF and the LBCF chapter one.
I have read these confessions in the past, I did not realise though just how central they where to early reformers and present day reformed believers.
Chapter One is pretty foundational, I think I have always believed these things about scripture. p 10 is pretty powerful
Paragraph 10. The supreme judge, by which all controversies of religion are to be determined, and all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, doctrines of men, and private spirits, are to be examined, and in whose sentence we are to rest, can be no other but the Holy Scripture delivered by the Spirit, into which Scripture so delivered, our faith is finally resolved.21
21 Matt. 22:29, 31, 32; Eph. 2:20; Acts 28:23
For the last several years I have fellowshiped within the charismatic/pentecostal community. I think some of these principles could bring some much needed correction!
