WCF LBCF Chapter One: The Holy Scriptures

I've just started reading through the WCF and the LBCF chapter one.

I have read these confessions in the past, I did not realise though just how central they where to early reformers and present day reformed believers.

Chapter One is pretty foundational, I think I have always believed these things about scripture. p 10 is pretty powerful

Paragraph 10. The supreme judge, by which all controversies of religion are to be determined, and all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, doctrines of men, and private spirits, are to be examined, and in whose sentence we are to rest, can be no other but the Holy Scripture delivered by the Spirit, into which Scripture so delivered, our faith is finally resolved.21
    21 Matt. 22:29, 31, 32; Eph. 2:20; Acts 28:23
For the last several years I have fellowshiped within the charismatic/pentecostal community. I think some of these principles could bring some much needed correction!

I came out of a real mess. A Southern Baptist going New Apostolic Reformation (don't let the word Reformation fool you with those jokers) congregation. It lead me to a crisis of faith. As I read Rom thru Col, it got me to thinking about all of the negative stuff I heard about Calvinism. The reason they bashed Calvinism and the teachings outlined by LBC/WC is it undermined the heresy they were trying to propagate.

About us
The PuritanBoard exists to promote robust discussion of theology in a Confessionally Reformed context. The modern trend of short statements of faith belies the many places where the Scriptures teach with great clarity. Though our respective Reformed confessions sometimes disagree, we believe that Churches have been given the gifts of teachers and elders to lead to the unity of the faith and the result of that unity is a Confessional Church confessing together: "This is what the Scriptures teach." The Confessions are secondary to the authority of Scripture itself but they arise out of Scripture as a standard exposition of the Word of God.
