William Symington by Roy Blackwood... Finally

    http://www.heritagebooks.org/product...venanters.html

Many of you have noticed my signature quote by William Symington. He was a Covenanter of high calibur. A man of God who did much good in making known the Kingdom of God and the implications of living in light of Christ's Kingdom. Fortunate for me I got to spend a bit of time with Dr. Blackwood in his home and for a few years under his loving teaching. The quote in my signature came from Dr. Blackwood's Doctoral Thesis.

Dr. Blackwood did his Doctoral work on the Life of William Symington. I have had the privilege of reading it many years ago and just a few years ago again. I had hoped he would get something published concerning his work. I looks like it is finally happening.

William Symington understood the Kingdom of God in ways that many do not in the Church. He understood it from a Biblical understanding that would have healed the church many times over if the Church could have endured sound doctrine. He wrote two very important works. They were written in an order that they should be read in. One on the Atonement and Intersession of Christ. The other on the Dominion of Christ.

The Atonement and Intercession of Jesus Christ On the atonement and intercession of ... - Google Books

    Messiah the Prince

You might find a copy of Messiah the Prince on Amazon or ebay ever so once in a while.

Andrew Meyers (VirginiaHuguenot) made an entry on the Puritanboard concerning William Symingon. He also read Roy's Doctorate work. I sent it to him and he thoroughly enjoyed it. William Symington

I would highly encourage everyone to pre-order this book. I am sure it will be a strong encouragement and growing experience for you all as Dr. Blackwood has been in my life. I only spent a few years under Dr. Blackwood but they have bore long lasting fruit.

    Be Encouraged,
    Randy

I read Michael Lefebvre's work on it about a year and a half ago. (Dr. Lefebvre took Dr. Blackwoods PhD work and made it 'popular').
This was the pre-edited version of this book. It is VERY GOOD! I cannot wait to have a copy.

The Mediatorial Kingship of Christ, as understood by Symington, has been one of the greatest blessings to the RP Church.

You can still buy Messiah the Prince hardback by Christian Statesman from Amazon.com: Messiah the Prince: Or, The mediatorial dominion of Jesus Christ (9780966004434): William Symington: Books
I have wanted to read this for some time now, and this prompted me to buy it. Thanks all.

"To believe in the power of man in the work of regeneration is the great heresy of Rome, and from that error has come the ruin of the Church. Conversion proceeds from the grace of God alone, and the system which ascribes it partly to man and partly to God is worse than Pelagianism" (The Reformation in England (London, 1962), Vol. 1, p. 98)

If Messiah the Prince does not convince a truly objective inquirer about the Scriptures' teaching on the validity of an explicit, Christian theocratic government and national confessionalism, then I don't know what would.

Symington's presentation is masterful and leaves little room for opponents to mount a meaningful argument.

If I remember correctly Roy told me years ago to not equate William Symington with Theonomist's of today. He had many old copies of MTP and showed me that there were editorial differences. I had acquired the Still Waters Revival Edition.

I just received my copy of the book. I just read the first chapter and can't wait to get into the book. I wish Roy would publish his Doctoral Thesis which I have read a few times.

Go get the book. I believe it proclaims the important doctrine of Christ's Kingdom and the Role of Christ our King as head as well as our role as subjects of the King. He is King of kings and Lord of lords.

Are you saying that there are editorial differences between the Still Waters edition and the others? I ask because the used copy I bought (which I thought would be a Christian Statesmen edition) happens to be the Still Waters edition as well. What kind of differences are we talking about?

I do know that the introduction (written by an RPCNA minister) wrongly suggests that Symington is essentially the same as theonomy. I am about half-way through it now, but would very much like to know of any differences.

I do know when I picked up a copy from 2nd RP I got the one that had a blue cover hard back the last time I got one. It was not the SWRB one. In fact I have never seen one of those at that church. And that was where I learned of William Symington. I think D. James Kennedy did a forward in it if I am not mistaken. Can you tell me if Dr. Kennedy had anything to do with yours.

I don't believe that Kennedy is in the SWRB edition at all. The inroduction is by Raymond P. Joseph, and RPCNA minister.
