Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God.

William Guthrie, The Christian's Great Interest

If you haven't read this, do it now. It's free on google books. I've come to learn why John Owen prized it so much.

The simplicity and clearness with which he writes of this great and wonderful topic is marvelous. The second half of the book is pure gospel brilliance, and is pastoral counsel at its finest. Calling it to mind has helped/blessed me many times.

Quote:
Q.9 What shall the man do who cannot lay claim to Christ Jesus, nor any of those marks spoken of?
A: Let him not take rest until he make sure to himself a saving interest in Christ.

They who perceive in themselves discoveries of the divine goodness, so full and absolutely perfect, and who make them the subject of earnest meditation, will never embrace new doctrines, by which the very grace they feel so powerfully in themselves is thrown into the shade. --John Calvin

It was the October book-of-the-month in the 2008 Puritan Reading Challenge. It's a classic!
