SWRB - One more time

I am aware of the controversy surrounding Still Waters Revival Books (SWRB), but have been assured that all of their copyright issues are resolved and behind them. They are currently offering a pre-pub of 90 CDs (30 of which I already own). That means that for $700 I can have 60 completely new CDs as well as a copy of the original 30 CD Reformation Bookshelf.

There is simply no way to obtain that many thousand classics, many of them out of print. What think you all?

Does anyone have a moral objection to dealing with SWRB at this point? And, does anyone know when the 60 CDs are supposed to be ready to ship?

Thanks!

I've always been interested in their stuff, nor had problems with the copyright issues. (It's not like the books are on the best sellers list But I've not heard too much about it (the copyright issue) either.) I just have a hard time reading books on the computer.

Of course, on another matter, how did a Barth book make the cut? Mwhaaa.

But I digress. It's a great bargin and alot of really good books. I think the books are much better than what's out today, and a great peice of history. But $700? The price sure has come up. It used to be about $300, and I couldn't afford it then.

How would it be possible to read 3000 books and 1500 sermons?

Assuming you read an average of 1 book/sermon every other day, it would take you 25 years.

The computer screen would blind me long before that.

How much of their stuff is already available online for free?

They also have the worst website in the history of humanity.

I do not find their pricing to be easy to understand or even locate, which in my view is not the business practice that Christians should be encouraged to follow.

Barth? Ye gads! I do have an older version of 60 CDs (30 Puritan, 30 Reformation) but I haven't found Barth on them. I purchased them several years ago when the price was still $300.

And yes, their website is atrocious. I ended up having to call them to make an order because I couldn't find any other way.

As for their theology, I understand they're covenanters, and I've no problem with that. But if there's another thread that explores them more deeply and uncovers some issues, I'd be interested in looking through it.

I don't know anything about the new CDs. The old problem set has been discussed several times on PB. I don't think you get a "go to hell" card by ordering from them; and if need be to get a source I cannot find easily or relatively cheaply otherwise, I will do so. But I would rather buy from just about anywhere else frankly given what they've been connected with. Yes; the website is legend for its horribleness.
N.B. We are not going to go into discipline cases or scandals on PB. For some of what has been discussed before on the CDs, SWRB and the Steelites, you can search on those terms. Some threads have been,

Go to Fuller Library and use EEBO. As a grad, you should have access via your library card. They will have everything on these CDs and will not cost you $700.
