Precious Remedies

Thomas Brooks's Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices is a must read for any Pastor and those of us who are soon-to-be and/or wannabee Pastor's. Brooks "remedies" are just as helpful and necessary as the day he put them on paper. Amazing how little the human mind changes and how surprising the Devil's tactics do not change.

That was the August installment of the 2008 Puritan Reading Challenge. It can be read online here:

I agree. I had the privilege of becoming aquainted with this book about 9 years ago. I've read it 4 times. It literally transformed the way I counsel and the way I approach homiletics.

The Embattled Christian along with this book...
Westminster Bookstore - Reformed Books - Low Prices - Flat Fee UPS Shipping - Embattled Christian: William Gurnall & the Puritan View of Spiritual Warfare

Are awesome resources.

Gurnall's full book is a great read as well, but quite long. The book above does a nice job in summarizing the content.

Christian ritual costs nothing and is worth nothing. True Christian religion costs all that we have and is worth everything.

I have enjoyed this book as well. It is complimented by William Gurnall's "The Christian in Complete Armour". Both are must reads imo.
