| | | Poem written shortly after conversion
I had never really written before but felt strongly at that time that i should put in words my experience. GOD BE MERCIFUL TO ME A SINNER
Do you know what real love is
There are some that do not care
But I have found it through the Lord
And the joy now I must share.
I spent my years with worldly things
Searching for a life of bliss
I did not find a way, not one
For Jesus I did miss.
In times of trouble I went in prayer
In hope that things would change
Would the Lord lend ear or care
Why should he, I was strange.
It came to pass, I sat in church
In front of God my head was bowed
For Jesus then my heart did search
My life was his I vowed.
From then my life is led by his
I Glorify His Name
I think now back to life of old
And hang my head in shame.
In God I have a father
Who teaches right from wrong
Come and find him while Hes near
Your chance may not last long.
Jesus hung upon a cross
For us his blood was shed
That we may have eternal life
And not be living dead.
The spirit lives within me now
And helps me face the world
Strain of sin wiped from my brow
The flag of Christ Unfurled.

Great sentiment expressed through the poem.
Your avitar also makes me think of attributes of God's- His wisdom and beauty through creation, his infinity, the "new dawn" He brings in the life of those He redeems, how his mercies are new every morning.
One biblical understanding that has helped me in recent years is that Christ both lived for us and died for us. He lived a perfect, sinless life to satisfy God's (perfect) standard of holiness and he paid the (perfect) once-and-for-all sacrifice for our sin by His death on the cross. He did both. And because He did both and, by God's grace, his righteousness is imputed to us, we need not fear the final judgment nor that we can lose His salvation.
Because of Christ, only because of Christ.
