Samuel Butler, an Anglican Royalist, wrote a satire of Cromwell and the Presbyterians, called
Hudibras (this poem is known as being the source of that popular phrase "Spare the rod and spoil the child," Part II, Canto I, ll. 844). Of historical interest, perhaps, to the Puritan-minded, is one little extract (Part 3, Canto 2, 635-640) which names some of the Westminster Divines:
