I'm an Anglican who subscribes to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer as a liturgical expression of the Reformed faith. I also believe the 39 Articles of Religion are Calvinistic and that the Lambeth Articles of 1595 and the Irish Articles of 1615 are legitimate expressions of the Reformed and Anglican faith. Additionally, I agree with James I. Packer that the Westminster Standards are a more detailed commentary upon the 39 Articles of Religion since the Westminster divines were for the most part Anglican ministers. I have another blog at Reasonable Christian where I comment on just about anything.

What's Wrong with the 1928 Book of Common Prayer? by Robin Jordan

Posted 06-28-2009 at 09:36 PM by Cranmer1959 (Five Point Calvinist & Anglican)

I have posted a guest article from another Reformed Anglican, Robin Jordan, on the topic of the American 1928 Book of Common Prayer and what is wrong with it.
"The 1928 Prayer Book was adopted at the time the Anglo-Catholic and Broad Church movements were the dominant schools of thought in the Protestant Episcopal Church and the book reflects their doctrinal emphases. At the 1925 General Convention Anglo-Catholics and Broad Churchmen united to remove the Thirty-Nine Articles from the

Whitefield's Sermon on Justification

Posted 06-28-2009 at 02:03 PM by Cranmer1959 (Five Point Calvinist & Anglican)

I am one of the few Anglicans around who is a 5 point Calvinist and faithful to the English Reformation. The same cannot be said of J. I. Packer or Gerald Bray, both of whom signed the Evangelicals and Catholics Together document, which in effect undermines the doctrines of grace in an attempt to unite with the mother of all harlots, the Roman Catholic Church.

The following sermon by the 18th century Anglican evangelist, George Whitefield, shows why total depravity and justification...

Calvinism Versus Arminianism: Is Arminianism a "Heresy"?

Posted 06-21-2009 at 06:48 AM by Cranmer1959 (Five Point Calvinist & Anglican)

I wrote the following e-mail/article in response to the contact person at the Society of Evangelical Arminians. It really is no surprise that an Arminian thinks that creeds and confessions of faith are without authority since the Arminian argument is based ultimately only on those parts of Scripture agreeing with their presupposed understanding of the texts. Calvinism, on the other hand, bases its understanding of the text on all of Scripture and a wholistic approach. Thus, both the sovereignty

J I Packer's Last Crusade Revisited Part 2

Posted 06-15-2009 at 10:27 PM by Cranmer1959 (Five Point Calvinist & Anglican)

In this section Dr. Packer endorses the "Anglican Quadrilateral." Unfortunately, this is meant by Anglo-Catholics to undermine the 39 Articles and biblical authority. It's sad that Dr. Packer endorses Anglo-Catholicism so openly. If only Evangelicals had the guts to stand for the Gospel! Click here: Dr. Packer's Last Crusade Part 2. This lecture series was on Feb. 13, 2009 in Orlando, Florida.
