Josh, Vista needs a minimum of 2 GB to operate effectively. Vista is a memory hog. More is better. If your machine can take 4 GB (and you can afford it), do it. I have a Toshiba laptop with 2 GB and a desktop with 6 GB. The 2 GB laptop still plods along like a sprinter wearing cement shoes. The desktop runs briskly. Summary: buy as much as you can afford wit Vista.
