This is my hometown. I was born in Kearny, NJ (exit 15W for those of you who only travel the Turnpike while traveling). Soccer was (and still is) the sport. The 1984 World Cup team featured three Kearny High School soccer alums: John Harkes, Tony Meola and Tab Ramos. Kearny is an immigrant town. When the O.N.T. Clark Thread Co. moved from Paisley, Scotland to the Kearny, NJ it took a few hundred workers with it. The influx of Scots to Kearny continued. Even today Scots immigrate to Kearny. The best fish n' chips in the USA are served in Kearny at the Thistle and Argyle restaurants.
