I almost really liked the movie (Val Kilmer was great), however there are 2 things that basically made it less than stellar to me:
1. Kurt Russell does not fit the mold.
2. The scene where he's walking across the river screaming, "NO!!! NO!!!" was just a bit too cheesy for my tastes.
IMHO, no Westerns can trump the following classics:
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Unforgiven
Pale Rider
High Plains Drifter
