Yes, you've hit the nail on the head as far as how Latin was the scholarly language, even for English scholars of Poole's day, while English is the language today into which Latin and other works must needs be translated. This is the
raison d'être for our translation project. As far the raw eggs, my pastor wants to emulate Matthew Poole in many things, but not that, I'm afraid.
