We believe that the Scriptures teach that Christ was crucified on Wednesday rather than Friday as is generally supposed. The sabbath following the day on which He was crucified was not the regular sabbath, for John tells us, "The day of that sabbath was a high day" (19:31), that is, a special sabbath or holy day on which no work could be done.
