I've heard this is the 3rd time they made this movie. It was done in 1964 (
The Last Man on Earth) and 1971 (
The Omega Man).
I actually thought
The Omega Man was really good when I saw it many years ago. It's sort of funny how popular this genre was in the late 60's with everybody convinced of an apocalyptic future from some biological or nuclear disaster. Charlton Heston seems to have served in all the big films of that genre.
