Persons are entities that possess desires, desires do not possess them. It is a person that desires something, not desires in the abstract that desires something. Therefore, to say that a desire exists to do something, what is meant is that a persons desires to do something. Therefore a person causes his own actions, according to his own desires, according to his own will, which is bound in sin.
