I think the idea of "build your own bible" is cool (I love studying binding, leathers, formats, etc) but I doubt it will happen. It would be just too expensive. I have had old bibles rebound in nice leather adding new ribbons and pages for notes and that alone is atleast a $100 per bible. Not taking into fact the process of type setting and printing the pages. I read on the ESV blog that for Crossway to design, proof, and print a new format (i.e. double column to single column) costs around $50,000.

It would definetly be a special niche that unless someone had an efficient way of doing it would be expensive in my opinion.
