About six months ago I found the
Catechism of the Catholic Church along with the Catholic Encyclopedia for a great price. Very helpful.
Maybe, for me, it was the fact that I
heard firsthand what they teach along with the how's and why's. Again, I'm not traumatized but there's a reason why Catholics are bulldogs for their religion. These guys are persuasive.
